Battlefield 3 incoming gameplay tweaks

13 January 2012

DICE’s senior gameplay designer, Alan Kertz, has listed some of the gameplay updates that the developer is currently working to implement in Battlefield 3.

Apparently players have been complaining about a problem which occurs when playing the recon class.

Players have been experiencing extreme inaccuracy when firing very soon after aiming down the scope using the red dot or holographic sight.

The theory that this is a deliberate nerf intended to prevent “quick-scoping” has been squashed, and Kertz has stated that this is a problem that will be fixed soon.

In response to players complaining about the M320 grenade launcher, Kertz suggested that perhaps “the refill speed [when replenishing ammo] on them is too fast” and that he “will update.”

He also mentioned possibly nerfing the Javelin anti-aircraft missile launcher, specifically against helicopters.

The .44 Magnum on the other hand, will be seeing “some love” in the near future.

One player complained that the hand-gun is severely underpowered, saying “I love the .44 Magnum but don’t you think 5 hit kill at range is a little much? It has 6 rounds.” Kertz responded “we agree, you and I.”

We can hope to see some of the above mentioned tweaks made in the forthcoming February patch.
