Battlefield 3 Premium, EA’s reward to fans willing to commit themselves to all the DLC content early, has gotten itself off to an impressive start, locking in 800,000 customers since launch. Keep in mind the service launched barely two weeks ago.
EA executive Patrick Soderland is smiling ear-to-ear, saying, “We are very pleased with the performance so far.”
The biggest reason to purchase is of course the discount on DLC – purchasing Premium will net you all the upcoming DLC for $50 (about R430), whereby bought individually you’re looking at $75 (about R645).
If the service pans out well (and it seems like it is), EA could make a similar DLC offer on some of its other titles.
“We’re actually only two weeks into it, so it’s a little early to tell how this is going to pay off. It certainly it looks very promising right now,” said Soderlund. Rewarding loyalty is definitely going to be a hit with fans of the franchise, so it would make sense to extend this offer to some of EA’s other big names.
