Free Game Talk SA gaming magazine launched

A new gaming magazine has launched in South Africa. Game Talk is a free publication that will be available as a download and at retail stores as a full-colour A4 magazine.

Marlon Sukhnunan is the editor for the first publication run. Game Talk Mag can be downloaded from the Game Talk website.

We spoke to Ally Bassa, the advertising executive for Game Talk Magazine, to learn more about this initiative.

MyGaming: Who is behind the creation and launch of the magazine?

Bassa: Game Talk was formed by the passion of gaming, matched by years of experience in the advertising and publishing industry. We decided that people [didn’t share] our vision of gaming…and therefore Game Talk was born.

We aim to cater for every gamer in all genres as well as give them something to get involved in; it’s free in such a pristine quality that they would look forward to it every month.

MyGaming: What is the aim/goal of Game Talk?

Bassa: To represent the world of gaming in a positive light to the future generations of gamers to come. The goal of Game Talk is to grow and facilitate an already expanding gaming market in SA. We hope to increase the audience and target market of gaming as well as reach those that have a concept of gaming to get them more involved in this day and age.

Game Talk is for the people and will accommodate [everyone]. We aim to achieve to bring people of all gaming types together as one to create, educate, involve and entertain. We are here to give people a free, well-marketed, innovative concept for them to enjoy as gamers as well as feel welcome.

MyGaming: What sort of content will you be providing in the Game Talk?

Bassa: It will contain latest reviews, previews, news, gadgets, and awesome competitions. We strive to keep the magazine up to date, as well as keeping it simple with a cutting-edge layout and design to accommodate for all gamers.

MyGaming: How will the free magazine support itself?

Bassa: The magazine will support itself purely on advertising, and from the support of many companies as well as gamers who share our concept. If you look at the likes of Google and Facebook, who provide their services free of charge to the end user, we have moulded our services in line with these market leaders and hope to be just as successful.

We don’t discriminate by placing a price tag on our product as we feel we are spreading the word and uniting gamers together to create and increase the field and concept of gaming. We will always be free and forever will be!

MyGaming: How many physical copies will be distributed?

Bassa: For our launch issue we have decided to distribute 2,000 full-colour high-definition physical copies which we have distributed strategically to reach all gamers nationally. We have created a website from which the entire magazine can be downloaded in a PDF format as well as viewed globally. [The website] will also have any previous copies our fans may have missed.

MyGaming: Where will gamers be able to pick up the physical copies of the magazine?

Bassa: They can download a free copy off our website. They can also pick up free copies from selected gaming stores, PC stores and internet cafés. If gamers are desperate on getting their hands on a copy they can e-mail me on ([email protected]) and we will reserve a copy of the magazine for them.

MyGaming: Will there be iPad or Android compatible versions?

Bassa: Yes, there will be compatible versions on all devices in the near future as we plan and will reach all gamers we can find.
