Remember Me: Capcom’s new IP

Capcom has unveiled its brand new IP, Remember Me, which confirms the speculation surrounding the mysterious domain registered by the publisher a while ago.

Developed by Dontnod, Remember Me will be set in 2084 Neo Paris and follow the story of a female protagonist named Nilin, who’s memory has been erased.

The game is an action platformer where people buy and sell memories from a company known as Memoreyes.

Nilin works with Edge, who are fighting against Memoreyes, which uses Sabre Force,  the heavy right-hand of the company.

A gameplay demonstration showed highlights of the game, notably the platforming and action elements Remember Me has to offer.

Escaping a gunship, our hero uses a sort of electronic gadget to electronically open doors, elevators and control different electronic sources.

The close quarters combat includes a free-flow combat system similar to that of Arkham City, with the electronic device on Nilin’s arm also acting as a gun which can erase memories.

The arm gun is used as a multi-purpose weapon and traversal device, which will play a strong role in the game, along with other weapons, such as grenades.

While the game is action-heavy, Remember Me will also feature stealth segments to mix up the pace of the experience.

Missions will incorporate the fiction of memory manipulation, such as one particular missions which saw Nilin having to remix target memories in order for them to kill themselves.

Remember Me is currently scheduled for a May 2013 release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.
