Market research company Gfk has released its July 2012 sales stats for the SA physical retail gaming market, detailing the top five selling games across various platforms.
On PC, Diablo III has ceded its number one position, and The Sims 3: Showtime Katy Perry Collection is on top.
July was relatively quiet on the new release front, but London 2012, the official game of the Olympics, made a strong showing. Otherwise, the classics are still selling strong.
It should be interesting to see how things get mixed up as we head into the big release season toward year end.

Gfk has explained that: “All software sold is reported in our system as such, regardless of whether it was bundled with another item or sold as stand-alone. Should the item have been bundled e.g. console with a game, GfK will split the item in order to portray the full scope of each market.”
