A sequel to the notoriously difficult RPG Dark Souls has officially been announced at the Video Game Awards.
The innovatively-titled Dark Souls 2 had a premiere trailer shown at the awards, showcasing some beautiful environments and masked characters.
Publisher Namco Bandai has confirmed the game will be coming to the three major platforms; PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Development will once again be handled by From Software, with the series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki heading up production with the help of director Tomohiro Shibuya, who worked on the Monster Hunter series.
An official statement read, “Dark Souls 2 will offer loyal fans exactly the kind of demanding challenges and never-ending struggle that became the hallmark of this whole series.”
The original Dark Souls was received very favourably by bother gamers and critics, who enjoyed sinking their teeth into the challenging gameplay.
No news yet on a release date, and unfortunately multiple uploads of the video were swiftly pulled from Youtube. However, Eurogamer’s Czech site still has the video up (at time of writing), which can be found here.
