American political activist Ralph Nader always has strong words on just about every issue that is worth politicising. This time he has slipped in a doozie against the video game industry, labelling video games as “electronic child molesters”.
Notable (among other things) for his consumer protection advocacy, Nader was discussing the American presidential inauguration weekend with Politico, saying: “Tomorrow I’ll watch another rendition of political bulls*** by the newly re-elected president, full of promises that he intends to break just like he did in 2009.”
Nader criticised president Obama’s gun control proposals which were pushed out following the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, saying that the proposals don’t address the violence found in entertainment media such as television and video games.
“We are in the peak of [violence in entertainment]. Television program violence? Unbelievable. Video game violence? Unprecedented,” Nader is quoted as saying.
“I’m not saying [Obama] wants to censor this, I think he should sensitize people that they should protect their children family by family from these kinds of electronic child molesters.”

Ralph Nader is FAR from being a nut job. He is a great consumer activist. We all owe him a debt of gratitude. Had it not been for him, if your toaster blew up when you first plugged it in, you’d have been STUCK with it. Also brought on the “Lemon Laws” for auto sales!
