While Dead Space 3 is exacting its action-horror toll on your mental stability, it’s also giving sideways glances at your wallet. As revealed by Eurogamer, the game’s weapon crafting system features a micro-transaction option that will allow players to speed the upgrade process using real money.
Details on the exact real-money pricing model have not been revealed, but there will be a number of resource packs of different values.
Otherwise you’ll have to scavenge for weapon upgrade resources in the ancient tradition of video games by playing through the levels, exploring the environment, and using the scavenger robots included in the game mechanics. How boring.
Dead Space 3 associate producer Yara Khoury explained to Eurogamer, “you can buy resources with real money, but scavenger bots can also give you the currency that you can use on the marketplace. So you don’t have to spend [real world] dollars.”
Khoury also said that players won’t be able to simply buy their way to the best weapons in the game right from the beginning, unless they are re-playing the game on the “New Game+” mode.
Dead Space 3 is scheduled for an 8 February 2013 launch. The demo is out now on Xbox LIVE and PSN.
Owners of Mass Effect 3 will receive an N7-themed suit of armour to use in Dead Space 3.

Well, as long as they allow you to get the upgrades for free by *gasp* exploring and be able to complete the game without shelling out extra.
If those gamers who cant accomplish anything on their own and need to support these money worshiping corporate bastards, then stupid will be stupid.
But, these micro transacions, petite DLC’s and what not is irritating me.
