A German tabloid is attempting to link a murder to video games.
A 31-year old woman was killed by a teenager after being stabbed with a katana 18 times, and the tabloid posted pictures of the killer, Marco F (last name withheld), “cosplaying as his favourite Final Fantasy character.”
The character Marco was cosplaying as is not from Final Fantasy, and instead from another RPG, The World Ends With You.
Another publication, Abendzeitung, also posted Marco’s alleged Final Fantasy XIV profile, which reveals that he seldomly played the game.
Trying to tie the murder to Final Fantasy appears to be a fair stretch for the German tabloids to link violence to gaming.
