WarCraft movie gets new director, production schedule

31 January 2013

Hollywood director Duncan Jones has signed on to direct the live-action adaptation of Blizzard’s epic universe of WarCraft.

Duncan Jones, who is best known for his directorial work on Moon and Source Code, is set to begin production later this year.

The production company behind the project is Legendary Pictures, who’ve handled other big-scale films, such as The Dark Knight Rises and is also financing the upcoming Godzilla reboot.

The script is being penned by Charles Leavitt (Blood Diamond, The Express), but is being kept under wraps about which WarCraft story it could be inspired from.

Duncan Jones took to Twitter to express his belief in the project.

“So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper MOVIE of a video game. I’ve always said it’s possible. Got to DO it now,” said Jones.

Can Jones actually make World of WarCraft into a great movie? Let us know what you think.
