EA has confirmed that the next instalment into the Battlefield series will be released in 2014.
EA Labels president Frank Gibeau said “”will be launching a Battlefield game next year,” and the publisher is “very excited to show you guys more detail on that coming soon.”
Speaking at EA’s third-quarter financial call, Gibeau didn’t add much else, but did say that EA is “not announcing an annualization of Battlefield at this time.”
Now there are no details on whether this will be Battlefield 4, Bad Company 3, or something completely different; however, it is reasonable to assume its BF4.
The news of Battlefield 4 originally appeared through a pre-order incentive for Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which is said to give adopters an early beta access to the next BF game.
DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson also confirmed that Battlefield 4 will once again be set in “present times”.
“We still want to stay in this genre, the modern day as it is. We feel this is a place we can be and continue with the series. Battlefield 4 can live in this space and be very successful,” Troedsson added.
