Mass Effect 3 in the pipeline?

18 December 2009

After having produced a highly popular MMO and its sequel in just less than three years most gamers would expect developers Bioware to take it easy with regards to another instalment.

Despite this Bioware Project Director Casey Hudson has revealed at a recent event that the company is already planning a follow up to Mass Effect 2, which is scheduled for release in early 2010.

“We’re looking forward to it [Mass Effect 3] and it should be more fun for us.” said Hudson, as reported by Shack News

This comment was made after Hudson gave a brief description of the level of commitment it has taken to develop an MMO such as Mass Effect; with specific regard to character choice and development. “I’d be really surprised if anyone else tried to do it.” he continued.

“Mass Effect 3,” Hudson said, “will be easier because we don’t have to worry about continuity into the next one.”

This suggests that the team are planning to release Mass Effect as a trilogy, wrapping up the complex science fiction story in the third game.
