My Gaming weekly round up

18 December 2009

The working year truly drew to a close for most this week, seeing the large majority of gamers taking off to the coast or simply enjoying some relaxation time at home.

Nonetheless My Gaming had its fair share of big stories in the last seven days; below are the most popular.

Going list crazy

As we mentioned last week this time of year is perfect for looking back and assessing those releases which captured our attention across all platforms.

This week we listed:

10 best Xbox 360 games of 2009 and Metacritic’s 10 best games of 2009.

World of Warcraft: The ‘community’

MMORPG’s have become pretty standard in today’s world. The idea of thousands of people playing the same game together on a single server, and being able to communicate with each other at will was once a concept only dreamed about. Now that the novelty has worn off of this phenomenon for many, has our desire to build or contribute to a true community been lost along with the novelty?

Ratings board outs Mass Effect 2’s naughty bits

Who cares about cataclysmic interstellar wars when there are hot aliens over at the bar anyway?

Fortunately, Bioware understands the fundamental concept of conquering space in your pants; as a result it looks like Mass Effect 2 will be catering to pervs everywhere.

This week Tarryn took a look into what (and who) you can expect to do in Bioware’s upcoming RPG.

Zaps confirms festive sale

Local gaming retailer Zaps today confirmed this week that it is currently holding a festive season sale on selected Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 titles. We listed the highlights.

PlayStation 3 capable of 3D playback

This week Sony released its final encoding specifications for its incoming range of Blu Ray 3D products. Most significant however was the announcement that all Playstation 3 consoles will be forwards compatible with this technology.
