Mom calls 911 over video game

23 December 2009

When Angela Mejia of Roxbury, Massachusetts woke up around 2:30am on Saturday to find her 14-year old kid up and playing video games, she did the only thing any parent in that situation could possibly do – she called the cops. It’s not like they have murderers to catch or anything.

The unnamed rebel was playing an undetermined iteration of Grand Theft Auto on an unspecified Playstation model.

“Sometimes I want to run away, too,” said Mejia, possibly (but probably not) referring to the escapism so many people find in video games.  “I have support from my church, but I’m alone. I want to help my son, but I can’t find a way.

According to the boy, the responding officers “were just, like, ‘Chill out. Go to bed.’” His mom should try that next time, now that she knows all the secret code words.
