EA has announced that it will incorporate micro-transactions into all of its PC and console games.
Speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference, EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen explained that gamers have been enjoying the element of micro-transactions, and that it will now play a bigger role going forward.
“The next and much bigger piece [of the business] is micro-transactions within games,” said Jorgensen
“We’re building into all of our games the ability to pay for things along the way, either to get to a higher level to buy a new character, to buy a truck, a gun, whatever it might be.”
EA had previously outsourced the micro-transaction operations to systems outside of EA, but the company has now said that it will handle it all in-house.
