Those Bioshock fans looking forward to submerging themselves in the world of Rapture once more with the release of Bioshock 2 on the 9th of February will be pleased to hear that the game’s infamous sound track will be made available digitally.
Kotaku has reported that fans of Garry Schyman, who composed the award winning score behind Bioshock and has returned for the sequel Bioshock 2, will be able to download the soundtrack via Amazon or iTunes although a CD release is not planned. Those who purchase the special edition package will receive the score on a separate CD as well as on vinyl.
A recent GamePro interview with Jordan Thomas, Bioshock 2’s Creative Designer, gave a description of what the public can expect from the game’s music:
“The score is done by Garry Schyman, who did the music for the original BioShock and is returning with all new material. Some of the licensed tunes on the multiplayer side come from the first BioShock because we wanted to correspond as much as possible with that feel. You get a bit more of a religious vibe in BioShock 2 because even though religion was outlawed, the story takes you to all the places Andrew Ryan wasn’t aware of. So you’ll hear certain songs that would have been banned in Rapture proper.”
