Exactly one year ago, to the day, MyGaming.co.za was launched to the public. Since then it has grown and evolved to become one of SA’s biggest gaming sites, with regular competitions and giveaways, daily news, features and columns, and of course a steadily growing forum community.

Since day one MyGaming has racked up 2,544,634 page impressions, and has peaked at over 65,000 unique visitors in a single month.

The average time spent on the site by every unique user is 4 minutes 59 seconds.

The average MyGaming visitor views four unique pages before leaving the site.

49 percent of MyGaming visitors use Firefox, 30 percent use Internet Explorer and 12 percent use Google Chrome. The rest use Opera, Safari, PS3, Netscape and other derivative browsers.

44 percent of MyGaming visitors are confirmed ADSL users, while 38 percent are flagged as “unknown” and probably comprise mostly of 3G, iBurst Neotel users. Just over 2 percent of visitors are still using dial up, and 258 ISDN users were recorded. The remaining traffic was made up of cable, OC3 and T1 connections.

Over the year, Google has been responsible for 35 percent of MyGaming traffic, while MyGaming’s umbrella site MyBroadband.co.za has sent through 24 percent of its total traffic. 20 percent of users visit MyGaming directly, and around 8 percent of MyGaming traffic has been delivered by Yahoo.

In its most recent month 42 percent of MyGaming traffic was delivered through Google, 18 percent via MyBroadband and 17 percent of traffic has been direct.

MyGaming growth

In its first month MyGaming recorded 6,725 unique users.

In May the site broke the 10,000 mark for the first time with 10,816 unique users.

The site then grew to over 16,000 unique users in July, and racked up a hefty 29,105 unique users in August.

September grew to 36,820 and October saw 45,508 visitors. November was a massive growth month for MyGaming,racking up 65,602 unique users, while December saw a decrease in traffic due to holidays, and registered 41,362 unique users.

All MyGaming stats are audited independently by the Website Association of South Africa (WASA).

MyGaming forum statistics

MyGaming now has 1,951 registered forum users, and has racked up 4,025 unique threads and 166,158 posts over the space of a year. On average MyGaming takes on 5 new forum user accounts per day. In January the MyGaming forum users averaged 565 posts per day with most week days peaking at around 900 posts.

To celebrate its birthday, MyGaming gave away a PS3 Slim as well as three PS3 games to one of its forum users, with more competitions to be announced over the next few weeks.
