In another event of video game-related violence, a 14-year old Minnesota boy has shot his mother and been charged with first-degree murder following an argument over Call of Duty.
“I’m not joking at all. She’s dead. I’m scared. I killed my mom with my .22. I don’t know why I did it,” confessed 14-year old Noah Crooks in a 911 call after the act. “I feel crazy and I know I’m not. I think I have some form of ADD.”
The dispute started when Noah’s mother, Gretchen, grounded Noah from playing Call of Duty after his grades had slipped.
According to the call, Noah confessed to attempted rape in his fit of rage, and showing signs of confusion about his actions.
“I tried to rape her. I tried to rape her but I couldn’t do it. Who tries to rape their own mom? My life is down the drain now.”
Following the attempted rape, Noah then used a rifle that has mother had given him as a gift, and shot her over 20 times.
The family’s lawyer is attempting to argue that the murder was a result of a “tumour of rage”, which caused Noah to lose control of his actions.
