Late last year we reported that iGame was planning some interesting new offerings for gamers, including a proposed unlimited gaming bandwidth service in the form of iGame Unlimited.
Today, the company has announced the launch of iGame Unlimited, as well as its brand new ADSL offerings.
iGame has obviously realised that in order to compete for the loyalty of SA’s online gamers, they would have to offer a dedicated ADSL service.
iGame Unlimited
For a monthly fee of R99, iBurst subscribers will have access to the various iGame servers without incurring any data usage. This effectively means R99 all-you-can -game online using iGame Unlimited. While Web Africa has as similar service in the form of WAGE which effectively does the same thing but without the R99 monthly cost, iGame is arguably more established and has some of the top rated and most popular servers in the Southern Hemisphere for games such as Call of Duty 4, Left 4 Dead 2, Heroes of Newerth and Wolfenstein.
iBurst has also confirmed that it is possible to subscribe to the 80MB iDSL bundle for R19 per month, which will then allow them access to iGame Unlimited, bringing the total cost to R118 per month for unlimited online gaming.
According to iBurst, iGame Unlimited users will also get preferential status, and will have guaranteed access to servers even when they are busy. How this will work when iGame Unlimited users try to join full servers remains to be seen. They will also receive priority support from the iGame community, and will automatically be entered into monthly prize pools.
“We recently redesigned our iDSL offering for ADSL users to bypass Telkom’s routing infrastructure and connect directly in to iBurst’s core. This offers gamers a better connection with lower latency,” said iBurst.
Illustrating iGame’s commitment to contributing to gaming in SA, they also announced that they will be giving away R16,000 worth of hardware prizes to iGame server users this month.
iDSL Pricing
While iBurst’s ADSL prices are not able to come close to the current consumer champion, Afrihost, they do include extra benefits. Firstly, unused bandwidth will be carried over from month to month. Secondly, all account holders will receive free tech support from Dial a Nerd, and finally, customers will gain access to value added services such as iGame Unlimited.
