Following developer Valve’s announcement this week that it is currently working on a sequel to much loved platformer Portal, studio boss Gabe newell has come forward with his opinion on the release.

During a conversation with 1Up Newell described the release as “the best game we’ve ever done.”

Although it’s not finished yet Newell claims that “it’s pretty clear, just internally” that Portal 2 is bound to be a Valve classic.

Although few details regarding the game have yet been released, it has been confirmed that it will be “a stand-alone, full-price retail release” with “new gameplay mechanics, storyline, and some surprising new twists.”

Valve has also confirmed that Portal 2 will be released “this coming holiday season” and that it may feature a co operative gameplay mode.
