A new survey has revealed that the European game industry is placing a greater focus on PC game development and less emphasis on development for the PS4 and Xbox One.
Conducted by the organisers of GDC Europe, the survey shows that 40 percent of European devs had recently released a game for PC or Mac. 39 percent of the devs had released a mobile game.
As for current PC games in development, 49 percent of developers are working on PC projects, while 39 percent are developing titles for mobile. 53 percent of the developers plan to work on a PC game following the completion of their current project.
As for the console numbers, only 13 percent of the devs are working on a PS4 game, while 9 percent working on a Xbox One title. Wii U trailed behind with only 5 percent of developers working on Wii U projects.
Going forward, 23 percent plan to work on a PS4 project, with only 14 percent aiming to develop an Xbox One game.
In the emerging European markets, PS4 (61%), tablets (53%) and smartphones (39%) were the top three choices of platform to develop for, while Steam Box had 37 percent of developers interested, with Android consoles and Xbox One lagging with 32 and 20 percent respectively.
