Top 25 PS3 Games of 2013 (so far)

Review aggregation site Metacritic has released a list detailing the top 25 PS3 games of 2013 as of 1 July 2013.

The list also includes indie games, which rank highly among the triple-A mainstream releases – which is a commendable sign for the independent game dev side of the industry.

1. The Last of Us  (95%)

This new survival horror property from the creators of Uncharted (Naughty Dog) is the third-highest-scoring PS3 exclusive of all time.

While looking absolutely gorgeous and supported by a great story, the game also hits all the right notes in other departments and proves that Naughty Dog really knows how to design interesting, gorgeous and enjoyable games.

2. BioShock Infinite (94%)

Bioshock Infinite may have had some sceptical at first, but it turned out to be a true contender for Game of the Year.

Irrational Games delivered an exciting new experience in the Bioshock universe, but kept intact all the things that helped gamers fall in love with the series.

The shooting is tight, the Vigor mechanics made combat interesting, the visuals were breath-taking, and most of all, the story  managed to surprise, please and get gamers brains running on overdrive.

3. Tomb Raider (87%)

Tomb Raider’s reboot marked a high point for the series which has undergone some tough times in recent years.

Square Enix did a phenomenal job at reinventing the female treasure hunter, to make her a more relatable and somewhat likeable heroin.

The game may have taken some tips from Uncharted, but its put itself into a frame of its own.

4. MLB 13: The Show (87%)

The MLB: The Show series is highly acclaimed to be one of the best in the sporting arena, and this year’s instalment proved that.

The baseball big-hitting was once again loved by critics and gamers everywhere, and hit another home run for the series.

5 . Bit.Trip Presents… Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (86%)

The retro-inspired platformer was more than an homage to the old-school era of gaming, but also impressed a lot of gamers and critics with its tight controls, catchy music and quirky levels.

The power-ups and visual flair of the game make the game a full sensory experience and Runner 2 is a great departure from the dark and gritty shooters of today’s market.

    But most of those are multi-platform games. How does Terraria, a game designed for PC and ported to everything else end up on a Best of a particular platform list?
