According to Shack News the release of Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern warfare 2 Stimulus Package DLC crippled Xbox Live servers over the weekend, keeping Xbox 360 players offline and unable to access the new content that the package introduced.
To apologise Microsoft has announced that it will be giving 7 free days of Xbox Live Gold Subscription to any player who purchased the ‘Stimulus Package’ on March the 30th.
“To thank you for your loyalty to Xbox LIVE and for buying the Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus package on day 1, we will extend your Gold membership for 7 more days of adrenaline-pumping action with your friends on LIVE. Your account will be updated by May 1” commented the company.
Although South Africa does no enjoy official Xbox Live support many local users have registered accounts in either the US or the UK and so would have been affected by the downtime.
