Mac OS gamers finally have Steam, StarCraft II beta

30 April 2010

Hardcore gamers have seen them before – the floppy haired, knitted sweater wearing ‘cool-guy’ Mac user, who’s muttering something about how the colours on their screen are better – poppycock! Things just got real however, with an announcement from Valve that the Steam client will be going live on 12 May 2010, and finally Mac users will have the opportunity to be on the bleeding edge of gaming releases.

The details are few at this point, but we can probably assume that the most popular Valve titles will soon be wending their way onto a Mac near you.

In other news, a StarCraft II beta client has been released for the Mac platform – but hold your Zerglings! It’s only available for North American users at the moment. Blizzard promises the rest of the world will be included soon.

Either way, good news for Mac OS gamers lucky enough to have a beta key.
