Though Sony’s Playstation 4 launch event is now over, gamers and new PS4 owners have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks and months regarding games available in the first year of the console’s life. One of those games is Destiny, a first-person massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by Bungie (think Borderlands, only with about twenty more players on your team).
Bungie has not announced a release date for Destiny, but revealed at the PS4 launch event that PS3 and PS4 gamers who pre-order Destiny will be given access to the beta before Xbox players. How long this exclusivity lasts is unknown.
In an interview with SpikeTV host Geoff Keighley for Playstation 4 AllAccess, Bungie’s Pete Parsons talks a little about Destiny on PS4.
“From the entire Bungie team it’s just so exciting to be a part of the Playstation 4 launch, we’re very glad to be here. Destiny is like nothing we’ve ever done before. Certainly we’re making a shooter, but how do we set out to redefine what shooters mean and what next-gen means? Its a pretty ambitious game, but we’re going to get there,” Parsons said.
“From all of us at Bungie, we’d like to congratulate Sony on an amazing launch for the Playstation 4. And to everyone out there in the Playstation nation, we can’t wait to see you online, playing Destiny in 2014.”
