Virgin gets back into gaming

27 May 2010

Eccentric billionaire Richard Branson has stamped his Virgin banner on a wide variety of international industries, from music, to an airline, to its very own cola and more. It was also one of the first companies to see the potential in the gaming industry when it launched Virgin Interactive back in 1981. Before pulling out in 1999, it published some pretty noteworthy titles, including Broken Sword, Dune II and the original Command & Conquer.

Some pretty big development studios were affiliated with Virgin Interactive, including Bethesda, Westwood, Capcom and LucasArts.

MCVUK reports that Branson is getting back into gaming, and will personally introduce Virgin Gaming at E3 next month. Virgin Gaming will apparently focus on console games, and will look to take on big boys like Activision and EA.
