New South African Dota 2 servers go live at IS Gaming

Internet Solutions Gaming has confirmed that new Dota 2 servers are being deployed on their network.

South African Dota 2 players have been going through tough times of late, with excruciating game queue times exacerbated by Russians wandering into our region. There’s not much we can do about the red invasion at this point, but the queue times might be getting better soon.

According to an IS Gaming spokesperson: “IS Gaming was first approached by Valve in June 2013 to host DOTA 2. We started hosting DOTA2 in July of 2013. At launch we hosted 60% of the DOTA2 capacity in Southern Africa. With the addition of new servers we host 75% of the DOTA2 capacity.”

MyGaming asked how many game instances the IS Gaming servers can now support. “It fluctuates based on events. Different types of instances are hosted that carry different requirements. This affects the number of players and instance slots,” said Is Gaming.

IS Gaming said that their servers are currently based in Johannesburg, but they are investigating the possibility of either moving some of the existing servers or deploying new servers in Cape Town.

IS Gaming added that they and Valve are working closely to improving DOTA 2 in Southern Africa and will continue to do so in the future.
