One of the biggest yet simplest shortcomings of Modern Warfare 2 was that it lacked the ability to lean in-game. This means no peaking around corners, or carefully looking around doors before entering a room.
This oversight annoyed many gamers, who had been playing FPSs for years and come to accept the lean function as a contemporary standard.
Good news from press who have managed to secure some hand-on time with Call of Duty: Black Ops (CoD 7), is that lean is back.
Other details that have been bubbling to the surface include a new stealth movement option, smarter AI, deeper class customisation, and a “barebones” game mode which will be similar to CoD 4 promod, with no killstreaks.
The game will also ship with Modern Warfare 2’s host migration, as well as a new server browser. Dedicated servers are still confirmed. Black Ops will also run on the same engine as Modern Warfare 2, although it has been “heavily modified”.
