Blizzard has announced the closure of the Diablo 3 auction houses as of 18 March.

“All active auctions will expire as normal following the shutdown of the gold and real-money auction houses,” said Blizzard. “Once the shutdown is complete, items will either be delivered to the current highest bidder or returned to the seller, appearing in each player’s Completed tab. Unclaimed gold will also appear in the Completed tab. Players will be able to claim gold and items and from this tab until June 24, 2014.”

“Items and gold not claimed by this date will be consumed by Treasure Goblins, never to be seen again.”

Blizzard originally announced the closure of the auction house in September 2013.

The Diablo 3 auction house is no more. Good news, great news, worst news ever? Let us know in the comments and forum.

Sad day indeed, so many against auction house and so many for, but I personally enjoyed it and would have stopped playing long ago if not for the auction house. I felt it added an extra dimension to the game above the normal gameplay. Since the update I played all my characters plenty hours and even though I picked up many legendary and some set items not a single one of them is better than the items I have already equipped my characters with, so I have yet to find a better item under loot 2.0, hopefully soon.
