The winners of the Game Developers Conference awards show were announced on 19 March, with The Last of Us and Papers, Please as the stand out titles.

Below are the winners:

  • Game of the Year, Best Design, Best Narrative – The Last Of Us (Naughty Dog/Sony)
  • Innovation Award, Best Downloadable Game, IGF awards – Seumas McNally Grand Prize, Excellence In Narrative, Excellence In Design – Papers, Please (Lucas Pope)
  • Best Audio, Best Visual Art – BioShock Infinite (Irrational Games/2K Games)
  • Best Debut – The Fullbright Company (Gone Home)
  • Best Handheld/Mobile Game – The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (Nintendo EAD/Nintendo)
  • Best Technology – Grand Theft Auto V (Rockstar North/Rockstar Games)
  • IGF award – Excellence In Visual Art – Gorogoa (Jason Roberts)
  • IGF award – Excellence In Audio – DEVICE 6 (Simogo)
  • IGF award – Nuovo Award – Luxuria Superbia (Tale of Tales)
  • Audience Award Winner: Kerbal Space Program
  • Lifetime Achievement Winner: former chairman and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, Ken Kutaragi
  • Pioneer Award Winners: League of Legends creators Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill
  • Ambassador Award Winner: Feminist Frequency creator Anita Sarkeesian
  • IGF award – Best Student Game – Risk of Rain (Hopoo Games – University of Washington)
  • IGF award – Audience Award – The Stanley Parable
