The Last of Us for PS4 has been confirmed by Sony Computer Entertainment America, with 1080p, higher resolution character models, and improved shadows and lighting all promised as part of the remastered package.
No release date has been announced, but it will be available before the end of 2014.
Besides the improved looks, The Last of Us: Remastered – the game’s official title – will also include the single player expansion Left Behind, the Abandoned Territories multiplayer map pack, and the Reclaimed Territories pack (details on what exactly will be included in the pack are yet to be released).
“We had a lot of people on the forums saying ‘can I play this on PlayStation 4?’ We had actually been anticipating that, and started working on it pretty much as soon as we finished the PlayStation 3 [version]. We weren’t sure if it was going to go anywhere, but when we saw the fans clamouring for it we doubled-down, and put more effort behind it,” said Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells.
“The graphic fidelity has been turned up to eleven… we’ve got 1080p, we’re pushing the draw distances further, we’re creating higher resolution character models, better lighting, and better shadows,” he said.
Below is a video interview where the guys from Naughty Dog talk about the game’s move to PS4.
