After being shut down altogether several years ago, the BioShock movie may be back on track after it was discovered that Sony Pictures had recently registered several domain names relating to the silver screen version of the game.
The most pertinent registration comes in the form of bioshock-movie.com, which was registered on 26 March 2014 by Sony.
BioShock fans have been waiting years for the movie to be made, during which time it suffered major setbacks – including budget cuts and losing its director at one stage.
BioShock creative director Ken Levine stated last year that he was responsible for the axing of the film in its entirety. Levine said in 2011 that there was also no burning desire to see the film made.
BioShock would be one of many video game projects currently in the works at Sony Pictures. The studio is working on films based on Watch Dogs, Uncharted, Gran Turismo, The Last of Us, Sonic the Hedghog, Raving Rabbids, and the Sega-Nintendo console wars, among others.
Combine Sony’s ostensible involvement with the domain registration, and we may just see a BioShock movie after all.
