Mythos reincarnated

8 July 2010

Action-MMORPG Mythos was quite a hot topic during 2007. It was being developed by Flagship Studios Seattle, a subdivision of Flagship Studios who was poised to release the highly anticipated and much hyped Hellgate: London.

Of course, despite a development pedigree which boasted former Blizzard and Diablo developers, we all know how poorly received Hellgate: London was. Plagued with bugs and multiplayer issues, and struggling with finance, the ill-fated Flagship Studios was dissolved, taking Mythos down with it. In the aftermath, Korean company HanbitSoft snatched up the intellectual property rights to both Hellgate and Mythos in 2008.

As of May 2009 HanbitSoft revealed that they were continuing development on Mythos. Since then things have been relatively quiet, with a closed beta taking place and only the occasional update through official channels.

Now it seems that European action-MMORPG fans have yet another game to look forward to as Frogster Interactive has officially announced a European publication deal. Apparently Frogster will be working closely with HanbitSoft to continually deliver new features and content. Mythos is tentatively pegged for a Q1 2011 release.

Mythos is an action oriented MMORPG in which players can form teams, or go solo through dungeons where they will encounter all sorts of terrifying monsters requiring some slaying. The gameplay reportedly follows a Diablo-esque hack-n’-slash style.
