Civ Developer sheds 20 employees, says Civ unaffected

9 July 2010

According to Variety Firaxis has let go of 20 employees. The individuals let go were involved in past Civilization titles, as well as the forthcoming Civlization V.

Fireaxis owner Take-Two says that the cuts are a “realignment of development resources at the studio,” and that  “these reductions will not impact Firaxis’ ability to create and deliver AAA titles, including its forthcoming Sid Meier’s Civilization V and Sid Meier’s Civilization Network for Facebook.”

According to Variety, the 20 departing employees comprise approximately 15% of the studio’s workforce.

Civilisation V is still on track for its September 24 release.
