Crackdown 2 out today, prices compared

9 July 2010

Microsoft’s Crackdown 2 has not quite set the world on fire in terms of its review scores, averaging 71 over on Metacritic. Having said that, 71 is by no means bad, so it’s probably still one to check out for fans of the first game, which was tremendously well received.

We have not gotten our hands on it just yet, so we can’t recommend it, but for those who do plan on heading out to buy it this weekend, we have rounded up the best local prices.

Kalahari.net

A firm favourite among gamers, SA’s biggest online retailer often has games at the lowest prices. This coupled with their free delivery on items over R385 makes them a strong contender for gamers looking for good deals, and they do not disappoint with Crackdown 2, selling it for R585.86. The only downside is that if you order now, you won’t get it in time to play over the weekend. Get it here

ZapsOnline

Another favourite for gamers, particularly those residing in Joburg North, Zaps has become well respected for its excellent pricing, and unique personal touch. They are selling Crackdown 2 for R585.00, and you collect it yourself from their store in Brightwater Commons, Randburg. Be sure to tell them you are a MyGaming forum user in order to get access to this online price. Alternatively, you can order the game, and Zaps promises to deliver to anywhere in SA for just R19. BTGames

SA’s most successful gaming franchise has become popular among gamers, and most major centres across the country have a local branch. Their online price for Crackdown 2 is R629. The instore price will be slightly higher, but you can order the game and collect it from the store at the online price. Alternatively, BTGames also delivers free on items over R390, unless you live in an “outlying area” in which case the price will vary. Get it here

Take2

Take2 is yet another popular online choice for local gamers. They are selling Crackdown 2 for R585, and they deliver to anywhere in SA for R30. There is also the option to collect from their headquarters in Cape Town. Get it here

Look&Listen

The likes of Look&Listen, Incredible Connection and other major retailers are still difficult to recommend due to their high pricing. Look&Listen is selling Crackdown for R699.99, making them a last resort.
