Ex-Infinity Warders’ lawsuit describes Activision “police state”

12 July 2010

You’ve got to give it to them – Activision knows how to look amazing in the headlines. If it’s not Bobby Kotick endorsing child slavery on Mars colonies (or whatever he’s said lately), it’s former Infinity Ward employees updating their existing  lawsuit and alleging the company instituted a “police state” mentality to force production on the next Modern Warfare title.

If you weren’t already imagining a bunch of guys in colour-coded jumpsuits playtesting on vintage monochrome IBM machines, with a Blade Runner skyline in the background, you are now.

The amendments also include unpaid bonus and damage claims of $216 million, a significant downsizing from the original $625 million. The update was filed on Friday, with a court date currently set 23 May 2011, although – with other former Infinity Ward guys Frank Zampella and Jason West filing similar litigation against Activision – a judge will hold a hearing in August to determine whether the two cases will be consolidated into a single trial.
