50 hour non-stop gaming session breaks world record

19 July 2010

Six dutch gamers have been admitted into the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest gaming session in recorded history.

Brothers Edward and Maykel Leest, Sven de Vries, Renzo Bos, Robbie van Eijkeren, and Marcel van Waardenburg all sat down at the Vogels sponsored event on July 16th at 12:55 PM CET. They proceeded to spend the next 50 hours straight playing Red Dead Redemption on PS3. Vogels used the event as leverage to promote their TwistDock docking station, which allowed the controllers to be continuously charged throughout the epic session.

A Guinness World Records representative was flown out from London to present the 6 gamers with their record.

The previous record for non-stop gaming was held by India’s Chirantan Patnaik, who spent 40 hours and 20 minutes gaming solidly in September 2009.

The 6 dutch gamers unanimously decided after 50 hours that it was time to quit. Not only did they break the record, but they received EUR 1000 (split six ways) and six TwistDocks.
