StarWars is one of the most pervasive cultural icons of the last 50 years. The household status of names like “Luke Skywalker” and “Han Solo” are testament to this, and phrases such as “may the force be with you” have virtually been absorbed into our modern western lexicon.
So it made me think when Activision’s Eric Hirshberg recently said that “the Call of Duty franchise is a force of nature. I think it is the closest thing this generation has to a Star Wars,” and that “it’s unique and bigger than any musical act or any movie franchise in that capacity.”
Now, I’m not disputing that CoD is big. It’s crazy big. But StarWars?
