rAge 2014 took place over the weekend of 10-12 October 2014 at The Dome in Johannesburg, and saw local gamers, cosplayers, and tech fans gather for three days of gaming entertainment.

The event’s organisers have now released the attendance figures and other statistics for the 12th edition of the exposition, which we though you would be interested in reading.

Visitors

2014 saw 31,254 visitors attend rAge over the three days, which is slightly down from last year’s record-breaking 32,626 visitor count.

LAN

In 2013, Internet Solutions stepped up to provide broadband connectivity to the 2,148-player NAG LAN portion of the event, offering a 1Gbps link. Internet traffic served during the NAG LAN at rAge 2013 was 26TB, which consisted of 21.3TB downloaded, and 4.6TB uploaded.

2014 saw a substantial increase in traffic, with IS providing a 5.2Gbps connection to the 2,370 who took part in the NAG LAN. Traffic downloads reached 99.64TB, with 24.34TB uploaded over the three days of the expo.

“For the 5th year HP sponsored the switches required for the NAG LAN. This network gets setup and configured in less than a week to provide connectivity to the users – providing a total of 94 switches at a value of just over R2 million to connect the users to one another,” said the organisers.

Exhibitors

Over 100 exhibitors took part in this year’s event – including big players like Microsoft, Sony, and Megarom – packing the 19,553m2 of floor space.
