Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has gathered a pretty strong and loyal fan base since its release. These gaming fans generally prefer Bad Company 2 over Modern Warfare 2 as their combat sim of choice. The community has been sticking with the title and eagerly awaiting more new maps to round out the title.
Bad Company 2 only has eight maps in rotation. Gamers were also not fooled by the map packs recently released, as they were little more than ‘mode packs’ really – the same old maps with new gameplay modes and some minor lighting and environment changes and extensions.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from DICE regarding new maps, aside from some promises earlier in the year that DICE would insist that EA did not charge for new maps. Looking for answers, a Twitter user going by the screen name of ‘L0Ki85’ posed a question on the Bad Company 2 community Twitter feed, asking if there were any new maps coming for Bad Company 2.
The Community Manager for Bad Company 2, zh1nt0 replied: “For BC2…there are no “new maps” coming.”
So, pretty cut and dried if you value the words of zh1nt0. It’s a pity that DICE doesn’t seem to be interested in adding more maps to Bad Company 2, as the gameplay is a whole lot of fun. Their closest competing title, Modern Warfare 2, has 26 maps to choose from thanks to map packs.
This a sure way to annoy loyal fans of the series, who may think twice about the upcoming Bad Company 2 expansion, Vietnam. If DICE considers eight maps to be enough for an original title, will the four new maps in the expansion pack be enough to satisfy gamers?
