Amongst others, Mass Effect is considered one of the Xbox 360’s hottest console exclusive commodities. In fact, Mass Effect 2 is one of the best reasons to own a 360. All that is going to change however, come January 2011.
Amazon.com started the rumour, and we now have official confirmation from EA. Mass Effect 2 will indeed become available on the PlayStation 3 in the first month of the new year, confirmed Ray Muzyka during EA’s press conference at Gamescom.
It is likely that EA will skip porting Mass Effect altogether, so unfortunately PS3 users will miss out on the complete trilogy. EA could have scored some points and made up for leaving PS3 users out in the cold for so long by bundling both games onto one Blu-ray disk and releasing them for the price of a single game.
It is still unclear whether the PS3 version will ship with the DLC that is currently available for the Xbox 360 and PC versions.
