Gamescom! It’s happening! In case you’ve been living in a wormhole or something, it’s the Gamescom expo in Germany this week, so all sorts of cool stuff is happening. Including EA announcing two special editions and an Xbox LIVE multiplayer beta for Crysis 2. Hold onto your Nanohats.

The super awesome Limited Edition will be priced the same as the regular edition, and includes the following super awesome bonus extras:

• Bonus XP – Players will jump into multiplayer battles with an edge by starting with enough experience points to gain early access to all 5 preset class load-outs. 

• SCAR Hologram Decoy – This special attachment to the SCAR will project a hologram image of the player, allowing them to confuse their opponents with the decoy. 

• SCAR Weapon Skin – This digital camouflage skin will allow players to add a personalized touch to one of the more popular assault rifles in the game. 

• Platinum Dog Tag – This special one-of-a-kind dog tag is one of over 250 that will be collectible in Crysis 2 multiplayer, helping to separate you from the rest of the field.

The super-super awesome Nano Edition is priced at a not-so-super-super awesome $150, and probably won’t even be available in South Africa. But the following super-super awesome bonus extras can haunt your dreams anyway:

• All the stuff included in the Limited Edition, and a steel case.

• An 11” statue (IT’S NOT A DOLL) of the game’s protagonist, Prophet, posed heroically (prophetically) on top of a New York taxi.

• An art book.

• A Nanosuit-styled backpack. OMG, EVERYONE WILL TOTALLY THINK YOU’RE THE PROPHET AND EVERYTHING.

An exclusive Xbox LIVE multiplayer demo for “this fall” (this spring, in South Planetside-speak) has also been announced, alongside two multiplayer mode reveals – Crash Site (capture point type) and Team Instant Action (like, team deathmatch). Multiplayer games will be using special “Nanosuit Modules”, including:

• Weapons Specialist Module – With the Weapons Specialist ability, the player can reload his weapons both more efficiently and quicker. 

• Proximity Alarm Module – With the Proximity Alarm module attached, the Nanosuit gives audio feedback whenever an enemy approaches. This allows the player to sneak up on or evade their attacker, depending on their preferred tactics. 

• Enhanced Visor Module – With the Enhanced Visor module attached, the Nanosuit prominently highlights all enemies whenever they are detected through digital scopes.

Crysis 2 is launching 25 March 2011.
