Survey: Halo: Reach and PS3 most discussed by gamers

According to Overtone, Inc.’s most recent GameVoice video game industry report, the unreleased game that has the most gamers talking right now is Microsoft’s Halo: Reach. According to their report, which tracks what gamers are discussing in forums and news sites, Halo: Reach is being discussed 3 time as much as Call of Duty: Black Ops, which is the second most discussed game.

This is impressive, especially considering that Halo: Reach is an Xbox 360 exclusive, and Call of Duty  is commonly perceived to be the biggest franchise in gaming right now.

The survey gives detailed feedback and rankings of over 300 games, consoles, publishers, genres, retailers and so on.

The PS3 was  the most discussed gaming platform, with over 73,000 comments reported in July. The Xbox 360 was the second most discussed platform, with 62,000 comments, and the Wii racked up 34,000 comments.

The Nintendo DS and 3DS ranked low in terms of overall comment volume, but received the most positive sentiment.  The PS3 and 360 ranked the lowest in the sentiment index.

The most discussed publisher was EA, with 26,000 comments focused on them, many of which were in relation to Medal of Honor and Dragon Age.

In terms of already released games, Modern Warfare 2 was the most talked about game in July, with 32,000 comments, and Bad Company 2 was second with around 16,000 comments.

“In the July report we see noticeably lower sentiment across several categories, likely a result of fading enthusiasm about June’s big E3 Conference announcements. However, several games and products continue to generate significant comment volume and those will be the ones to watch over the next several months,” said Michelle Mathis, GameVoice Product Manager.
