The first mention of FarCry 3 came in 2008, when Ubisoft announced that it had begun pre-production on the game. That means it has been in development for around 2 years, so we should expect to start hearing more about it in the next year or so.
Some pretty official looking box-art has now surfaced, and the game has even been listed on a number of international game retailers. One site even listed a Collector’s Edition, although most of the listings have since been removed.
It is thought that FarCry 3 will once again be set in Africa, and will run off a completely revamped Dunia engine. FarCry 2 had a lot of potential, but was ultimately spoiled by some irritating gameplay mechanics and ceaseless repetition. Let’s hope Ubisoft listened the the criticism, and won’t repeat any of the same mistakes in FarCry 3.
