All of The Witcher 3’s DLC may be free, but its expansions certainly won’t be, and for obvious reasons. Weighing in at around 30 hours of additional playtime, Hearts of Stone (around 10 hours) as well as Blood and Wine (a dizzying 20 hours in length) promise epic new adventures—CD Projek’s words not ours—as well as new lands to explore.
As far as each expansion is concerned, you can find out more details on the Buy The Witcher 3 page.
CD Projekt RED, in their description of the expansions, hints at the return of old characters sorely missed; we wonder who’s missing from The Witcher 3? Might we see the return of characters from the original The Witcher? You can also expect the usual expansion paraphernalia: new pieces of equipment, stories, sinister enemies, characters and so on.
What we want to know now is where in the timeline of this latest game these two expansions come in. With The Witcher 3’s promise of a grand conclusion to the story, surely the expansions aren’t set following said conclusion. It’s all very curious.
Hearts of Stone is expected to hit in October of this year and Blood and Wine should premier in the first quarter of 2016. By the way, in case you haven’t pre-ordered the title just yet, you can buy the game plus expansion pass in one handy bundle.
