November Game release calendar

1 November 2010

Christmas is just around the corner, and as the year’s end draws near, like a sleeping giant the video games industry wipes the sleep from eyes, and floods us with a veritable barrage of “must-buy” AAA titles. October was a huge month for gamers, with Medal of Honor, Fable III and Fallout: New Vegas all just begging for a slice of your bank balance.

This month is looking equally exciting, although a lot of that excitement can be attributed to a single game: Call of Duty: Black Ops. Activision has built the Call of Duty brand into the biggest video game IP in the world, and like its predecessor, it is expected to break previous records and become the new “biggest entertainment media launch ever.”

In fact, Black Ops is such a titan, that it is thought to be the reason for various other publishers pushing their games back so as not to have to compete. Having said that, there are a few brave IPs with the confidence to go toe-to-toe with the FPS heavyweight.

Those not compelled by the call of duty have plenty of options, most notably Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and Two Worlds II. DJ Hero 2 will surely appeal to fans of the genre, and Microsoft’s long awaited motion control device, Kinect, will finally grace our shores.
