It’s good news ladies and gents, the final game in the PlayStation One Final Fantasy trilogy, Final Fantasy IX, is finally coming to PC and mobile – the PC versions of Final Fantasy VII and VIII having been around for a good while now.
That’s according to Square Enix themselves.

We love ourselves a good FF game, but are particularly fond of the three on the original PlayStation, having been the games that initiated us into the franchise. So finally getting to replay Final Fantasy IX, even if it is for the fourth or fifth time, is a great way to start the new year.
And that’s really all there is to this story. Weirdly, I think it means I’m psychic.
While rewatching the rather enjoyable retrospective series by GameTrailers.com, the Final Fantasy Retrospective particularly, I did what any fan of the long time JRPG series would do, reminisce.
Feeling all warm and fuzzy, nostalgia aplenty, I thought I’d dedicate a portion of 2016 to playing some of the Final Fantasy titles I never quite finished, Final Fantasy XII for example, or just hadn’t got to altogether, like Final Fantasy IV.
Of course, without a PS2 anymore, I’d have to use an emulator for Final Fantasy XII, but then I remembered that there were rumours of an HD remaster.
And then I though, where the heck is the PC release of Final Fantasy IX? An hour or so later, I peruse the interwebs and stumble upon the announcement of its forthcoming relase.
It’s confirmed, I’m psychic. I think I’m going to work on Half-Life 3’s release date next, and probably the Lotto.
