Of course, The Division is the best experience on PC

The Division

A lot of information has been surfacing about The Division of late, including a great deal of gameplay.

More than anything, there’s been a lot of discussion surrounding The Division‘s quality of experience across all the major platforms, the Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Is anyone surprised to hear, then, that it appears that The Division looks best on PC? Probably not. But what has gotten people talking is how much of a difference there is.

Popular YouTubers like AngryJoe and Jackfrags have shared information on the PC and Xbox One versions of the game. Sadly, PS4 versions of the game haven’t been made available quite yet.

AngryJoe posted a video that shows off close to an hour of gameplay, and near the end of the video (54:40) he explains that the game is a far superior visual experience on PC.

AngryJoe explains the visual difference saying:

I was not blown away by the graphics. I thought the graphics was probably better at E3, so I don’t know if there has been a downgrade; of course, this was on the Xbox One. Correction: the graphics did look good in the computer room.

They’re actually doing a lot for the PC version and they listed out, like, all these different enhancements that the PC has so it’s not simply a port. The PC version hopefully is gonna be good and it looks far better than the console.

Jackfrags confirmed the same verdict in one of his own videos, sprinkling on some additional details about the Xbox One version.

He said the following about his experience:

The Xbox One version looks good, no doubt, some really nice weather effects. It’s definitely not native 1080p though and it only runs at 30fps. There were moments in combat where there were a lot of players on screen and explosions, I could definitely feel the fps dropping below 30 and chugging a little bit. I did try the PC version and will comment on that soon, but I’m definitely gonna be playing the game on PC when it launches.

If all of this proves true, then Ubisoft may be turning over a new leaf and actually appealing to the sensibilities of the PC gaming crowd by providing a game that properly functions on PC.

This is further supported by a leak showcasing the graphics options for the game, which can be found on NeoGAF. There are a lot of them.

The graphics options are supposedly, as follows:

Vsync (on/off)
Frame Rate Limit (on/off)
Shadow Quality
Shadow Resolution
Spot Shadow Count
Spot Shadow Resolution
Contact Shadows
Post FX AA
Temporal AA
Sharpen Image (%)

Some are even reporting that on medium settings the PC version is superior to the Xbox One version. The beta The Division will be happening on January, 28th for Xbox One users and the 29th for PC and PS4 users, ending on January, 31.

The Division is set for a release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on the 8th of March.
