Criterion tuning up next Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit PC patch

6 December 2010

After pushing out a patch for the game last week, Criterion is already busy with a second Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit PC update. According to the official blog, it’s all that “really nitty-gritty, picky stuff that make the difference between a good game, and a great one.”

I can’t work out why the fix list doesn’t include bolt-on rocket turrets or robot unicorns. It does, however, include the following:

– Groundcover Graphical Errors: When alt-tabbing, the groundcover would start to corrupt, causing random tree images to appear all over the screen.
– Controller Configurations: On some machines controller configurations that have been set up for wheels, pads, etc are not saving correctly to a configuration file. This is now fixed.
– Rare crash when entering the Career map screen: The game sometimes crashes when entering the Career map screen quickly after booting the game.
– Rare crash when streaming graphical data.
– Steering response reported as having large dead zone.
– Player car engine volume too low.
– Event selection crashes affecting players with AMD / ATI Radeon graphics cards who have overridden the game’s AA settings.

No patch release date has been set, but the nice people over at Criterion have promised to let everybody know whenever that happens.
