While the Spike TV awards are a bit of a joke amongst enthusiast gamers, they do elevate the profile of our favourite pastime into the mainstream media spotlight, which is probably why so many publishers plan their big reveals for the event.

According to a press release issued by Spike TV, this year no less than 13 AAA games are confirmed to be revealed at the ceremony, including the following:

•    Batman: Arkham City
•    Resistance 3
•    Thor: The God of Thunder
•    Guillermo Del Toro’s video game
•    Bioware’s next game
•    And a special “Gears of War” announcement

On top of those six, we can expect a further seven big reveals at the event which takes place on 11 December 2010. Whispers of Uncharted 3 and Prototype 2 are doing the rounds, but it’s anyone’s guess what the remaining five could be.
